How to Edit Part Costs in Inventory

You can only edit cost fields when the part has no stock on hand β€” here's how it works.

πŸ›  Editing Part Costs in Inventory

In Auxo Workshop, Last Cost and Average Cost are automatically calculated based on historical purchase orders. This means:

  • You cannot manually edit these fields for parts that have stock on hand.

  • These cost values are used for internal tracking and reporting, including COGS calculations if you're integrated with Xero.

βœ… Workaround:
If you need to update the cost for an existing part, you can temporarily adjust the stock level to zero:

  1. Go to Inventory β†’ Parts

  2. Find the part using the Search Bar or Parts List

  3. Click to open the part details

  4. Use the Stock Adjustment tool to reduce Qty on Hand to 0

  5. Once the quantity is zero, the Last Cost and Average Cost fields become editable

  6. Update the cost as needed

  7. Use another Stock Adjustment to restore the correct quantity

This approach allows you to reset the cost baseline before future purchases, especially useful if the part was added without a purchase order or the cost was incorrect.
